I enjoyed your "recession" comments. Several people in my line of business have ask me the same "Recession" questions. I took a bit of a survey on my own. If there are as many people unemployed as the media would want you believe...there would be no "rush hour" traffic...Right? Well, I went out to the main hiways in our city during the normal "rush hour" and guess what? There is still a hugh amount of traffic rushing (well not really rushing...maybe still standing and waiting). Just one more reason you can't believe 99% what the media has to say.

Another idea about unemployment. I agree with you this could be an excellent time for people to "do what they have always wanted to do for a living" If you need to...now is a good time to get some more education maybe at night school.
But the most important element in starting your own business is PASSION is this business something you have determined there is a need for and are you passionate about the fact that you can do a better job? If so go after it.

Another idea is when you are already self employed and need to expand your business...look at Barter.
I recently bartered several thousand dollars of my furniture for some needed dental work for myself and my family.

I saw a sign this morning that said,"Obama lied...the economy died". Well I don't know if Obama lied but I do know the economy has NOT died. A long way from it...I do not believe our economy problems are over not by a long shot...One thing to remember durning the "Great Depression" the unemployment rate hit 25%. That is high but that also means 75% were working every day.

I saw a note on the internet yesterday that indicated the forecloser rate in some cities is as high as 10%...that also means 90% of us are still making mortgage payments every month...that also means that 90% are still employed.

Just some food for thought,

Yeah girl!! That's what I am saying!! I too am having toturn down work. I just pray over every job that comes my way and ask God to show me my yes and no. It is an amazing feeling when you let God lead. Suddenly, the state of the economy seems to completely leave your thought process. The key is letting God lead. :) Thanks for writing about this!! :) Love you!

Thanks Kelly for a timely and encouraging post. I agree - there are tremendous opportunities to improve efficiencies, deliver greater value, and bring people together if we're only willing to see things in a different light.
